Octopus

 

 

  • The only anatomical structure the octopus has is the beak around the mouth, which is similar to your fingernails.
  • The octopus has an excellent eyesight and well-developed brain.
  • An octopus can lose an arm to escape a predator's grasp and regrow it later with no permanent damage.
  • Average lifespan in the wild: 1 to 2 years.
  • Octopuses tend to be small in warm tropical waters and larger in colder waters.
  • Females rarely exceed 55 pounds and males average less than 90. 
  • It can instantly change the color and texture of its skin to match the surrounding area.
  • When discovered, an octopus will release a cloud of black ink to obscure its attacker's view, giving it time to swim away. The ink even contains a substance that dulls a predator's sense of smell, making the fleeing octopus harder to track.
  • The octopus blood is light blue
